RPL is the acronym for Recognition of Prior Learning. It’s a process for formally assessing and acknowledging skills, knowledge, and competencies gained through work experience, informal training, or life experience, rather than traditional formal education. The goal is to allow individuals to earn formal qualifications that reflect their existing abilities. How it works Benefits Social inclusion: It provides a pathway for recognition for people from diverse educational backgrounds. Formal qualification: Individuals can obtain formal recognition for their skills without having to go through a full course of traditional study. Career advancement: It can lead to improved job prospects, promotions, and further educational opportunities. Lifelong learning: It supports a culture of lifelong learning by valuing knowledge acquired outside the classroom.
